By Jason D Searcy

Jacob Goede from Carver (MN) won his 7th feature of the season during Thermo King Eve of Destruction night at Elko Speedway.

Goede has won four of the last six feature events in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series MN Corn Growers Super Late Model division. Goede lead the race from the green flag to the checkered but former Champion Dan Fredrickson was right on his tail finishing second by only .197 seconds. Fredrickson and Goede raced clean side by side for many laps near the end of this race.

Dan Fredrickson from Lakeville (MN) won the other main event during this double feature night at Elko Speedway. Chad Walen had the early lead until Fredrickson joined the fight for the lead. Walen and Fredrickson thrilled the huge crowd by swapping the top spot numerous times, Fredrickson won the race by .102 seconds over Walen. “We had a good race side by side,” said Fredrickson “I ran him up the track a little bit, then he ran in the back of me and we both turned sideways, it was pretty wild, I’m sure the crowd liked it… it was a fun race.” Fredrickson said he was getting the car dialed in for the upcoming Thunderstruck93 race event on September 20th.

Jacob Goede is in search for his first point Championship at Elko Speedway. He now has a 22 point lead in the season point standings over Paul Paine with only one more points night remaining.

Doug Brown from Prior Lake (MN) won the first of two Big 8 feature events. Brown started up front and lead the entire race “we went back to some old set-up notes and it just happened to work out for us tonight, everything was in the rear view mirror” said Brown. He beat Michael Beamish to the line by 2.6 seconds with Chris Marek finishing third.

Jon Lemke from Shakopee (MN) won the second feature event. Michael Ostdiek lead many laps and battled Lemke side by side for much of the race. Then on the final Green-White-Checkered restart Ostdieks car seemed to have a mechanical problem and he dropped back to the 10th position. Chris Marek took advantage and moved up to the runner-up position.

With one points paying race night remaining the defending Champion Chris Marek now leads the standings by 14 points over Lemke.

Michael Gilomen from Northfield (MN) and Ted Reuvers from Dundas (MN) won the two Genz-Ryan Thunder Car main events on Saturday night. Conrad Jorgenson finished second in both of the races and increased his point lead in the division. Jorgenson now leads Jeremy Wolff by 51 points going into the final night of points racing next week.

Taylor Goldman from Minnetonka (MN) won the Pepsi Power Stock feature event. Brandon Petersen and Ryan Varner were both disqualified post race in the Garage Door Doctor Tech shed giving the win to Goldman, it is her second victory of 2014. Point leader Nick Oxborough finished in the 10th position of the 23 cars who finished the race and that opened the door for fourteen year old fellow rookie Grant Brown to gain many valuable points by finishing 2nd to Goldman.

Oxborough now leads Brown by only 4 points and Tom Doten is still within striking distance at 21 points out of the lead going into the final night of racing in the Power Stock division on Saturday night September 13th.

Robbie Carter from Prior Lake (MN) won his second consecutive Great North Legends Main event at Elko Speedway. Carter started up front in the 18 car field and never looked back, winning the race by .236 seconds over Derek Lemke with Brady Fox-Rhode finishing 3rd.
