Royle, Moore, Blohm, Goldman and Lemke Win

So far in 2013 we have seen a different winner at Elko Speedway in all four feature events in the NASCAR Whelen All American series Super Late Model division.

Adam Royle from Lonsdale (MN) won on Saturday night with an exciting last lap pass over Nick Panitzke. “I went around the bottom where my car was working good,” said Royle who started fourth row inside, slowly making his way to the front during the forty lap race. “Just like last year my car picks up at the end of the race,” said Royle.

Royle is now the early season point leader, but he vows it will not change his driving style. Royle has finished second in season ending points numerous times, “I never think points,” he said.

Dylan Moore from Nothfield (MN) became the fourth different winner in the Big 8 divison this year, “I fought with Chris Marek a little bit after the restart and was able to pull around him, it was a good clean race,” said Moore.

Taylor Goldman from Minnetonka (MN) had a clean sweep winning both the heat and feature in the Power Stock divison. She had to work her way to the front after starting third row outside. “I had to control my temper and have patience,” said Goldman “rubbing is racing, I have to hang tough and drive my line the best I can, respect other drivers and hopefully get the same thing back, tonight it paid off” she said. Goldman is now tied for the point lead with defending champion John Lebens in the Power Stock division.

In the Great North Legends feature, Derek Lemke from Shakopee (MN) edged James Wenzel by only .033 making it the closest finish of the year thus far.

Daryl Blohm from Elko (MN) won the Thunder Car main event after slipping past Devin Schmidt and holding off the hard charges of Ted Reuvers late in the race.

Racing resumes with the NASCAR Whelen All American series on Saturday night June 15. Five divisions of racing plus incredible aerial acrobatics from “Galaxy Girl,” spectator gates open at 5pm with racing beginning at 7pm.
