"OUR KIDS have so much fun coming to Elko Speedway for EVE OF DESTRUCTION. We love it!"
—Mary, Minneapolis
Elko, MN May 22, 2010--Ross Kenseth came to Elko Speedway to "get some laps" in preparation for the upcoming Elko100 touring event and left with a clean sweep as the Cambridge, WI hotshoe led qualifying, topped his Semi Feature and then worked around Lakeville's Billy Mohn on lap 12 of 40 enroute to claiming a clean sweep in the NASCAR Super Late Model action to highlight the NASCAR Whelen All American Series action Saturday May 22, 2010.
At the drop of the green in the 40 lap NASCAR Super Late Model headliner, the 21 starters saw Billy Mohn charge to the point with Brian Johnson, Ross Kenseth, Steve Anderson and Matt Goede in tow. By lap four, Kenseth moved to the highside of Johnson for second, with Goede ducking to the inside of Anderson for fourth two laps later. As the action
remained "clean and green", Kenseth worked the outside line to perfection, catching Mohn on lap 11 before taking the point on lap 12 as Goede moved under Johnson to join the top three. Once at the point, Kenseth kept a smooth line, but couldn't shake the persistent Mohn who dogged him the final 28 laps and despite a 24th lap caution for a spinning David Fredrickson, Kenseth would work his way to victory lane, with Mohn a strong second, Goede third, "Dundas Donny" Reuvers charged home fourth with Johnson holding on to a top five.
In the Big 8 Sportsman, Prior Lake's Nick "the kid" Barstad charged out to the early lead before the caution flew on lap five as Travis Stanley lost the rear deck lid forcing a quick
reline. On the restart, Barstad and Dylan Moore resumed their battle, with point leader Doug Brown working around Tom Kamish to join the top three. As the action heated up, Moore muscled under Barstad for the lead on lap 8 and continued to show the way until the caution flew a second time on lap 17 as Lawrence Berthiaume lost power. On the final restart, Moore again pulled out to the lead, with Brown slipping under Barstad for second, but over the final 13 laps, Moore powered to the win, with Brown second, Barstad third, Kamish fourth and Bill Collins rounding out the top five.
In the Genz-Ryan Thunder Cars, Lakeville's Chris Marek grabbed the the early lead over Mike Homan, Don Whitebear, Craig
Bennett and Daryl Blohm, with Blohm making the most early noise working steadily into the top three by lap four. With Marek looking to extend his lead, Blohm kept marching as he caught and passed Homan for second on lap nine and set his sights on the lead car of Marek. Steady, consistent and persistent lap after lap, Blohm finally closed to the bumper of Marek and as the leader entered turn three on his final lap, Blohm sent the leader spinning to force the caution and a green, white checkered finish as the entire field had yet to take the white flag. Prior to the restart, Blohm headed down pit road with damage to his Chevrolet, while Marek's ride lost power on the restart with Dundas' Ted Reuvers taking the point and the win, with point leader Jack Paulson charging home second and Kyle Kirberger third.

In the Click Club USA Legends, the drivers had twin 20 lap features and in Round one, Elk River's Lucas Dollansky charged to the early lead over Shon Jacobsen with brother Garrett Dollansky slipping by Jacobsen for second on lap five before the caution flew on lap six as Lucas Dollansky cut a tire and slammed into the turn one wall. On the restart, Garrett Dollansky claimed the lead and despite two cautions and a hard charge by Lakeville's Bryan Syer-Keske (before a solo spin on lap 16), Dollansky held on for the checkers with Matt Ostdiek bypassing Pat Zandstra on lap 17 for second.
In the second 20 lap main, Lakeville's Bryan Syer-Keske charged to the lead on the opening lap and despite a 13th lap caution for a spinning Ostdiek, Keske was not touched as he went "wire to wire" for the win, with Tyler Sjoman charging from 11th to second and Zandstra scoring his second top three of the evening.
In the Dicks Sanitation Power Stocks, Farmington's Jason Novak and Lakeville's Josiah King battled high and low for the lead throughout the 20 lap affair, with Dillon Sellner, Rob Schnickels and Taylor Goldman in the top five. Despite the hard fought, side by side action, the racing remained
"clean and green" with the lead being swapped three times over the final four laps, but in the end Novak held on for the apparent win. In the post race technical inspection, Novak was disqualified for illegal power steering, moving King to victory lane, with Sellner second, Schnickels third, Goldman fourth and Eric Campbell fifth.
Topping off the action were the Super Hornets and it was the Aaron Hopkins show as the Burnsville drivers topped the heat and feature to score the clean sweep with New Prague's Zach Schelhaas second in both races and Medford's Shawn Grabinger third in both.
