Jacob Goede from Carver (MN) won the second MN Corn Growers Super Late Model feature in front of a huge crowd at the Eve of Destruction Saturday night and took over the point lead at Elko Speedway.

Goede had a good points night, he started 7th in the 17 car field of NASCAR Whelen All American series Super Late Models in feature number two. He wound up on top by avoiding the wrecks and holding off Darrin Giles from New Market (MN) by .852 seconds to take the win, it was his second victory at Elko Speedway this year.

Steve Anderson of Lakeville (MN) started up front and stayed there to win the first Super Late Model feature of the night, he beat Paul Paine from Mound (MN) to the checkers by .206 seconds to score his second win of 2014.

Jacob Goede now leads in the standings by 5 points over Paul Paine with Chad Walen only 6 points out of the top spot in this closely contested race.

The Genz-Ryan Thunder Cars thrilled the crowd again this week with 23 cars taking the green flag. Michael Gilomen from Northfield (MN) just edged Adam Wiebusch from Shakopee (MN) by .182 seconds to win the first of two feature events.

Jeremy Wolff from Chaska (MN) grabbed the top position after Conrad Jorgenson and Brent Kane spun while battling for the lead in feature number two. Wolff then held off James Lindgren from Apple Valley (MN) by .134 seconds for his first victory of the season at the Midwest Center for Speed.

Conrad Jorgenson from Lakeville (MN) had a rough night, finishing 7th and 17th in the two feature events, he still leads in the standings but now only by 10 points over Wolff.

Chris Marek from Lakeville (MN) had impressive first and second place finishes in the BIG 8 division. He started on the front row and held on to win the first feature by 1.17 seconds over Cole Anderson from Northfield (MN). Maybe just as impressive was his run up to second place in the second feature after starting 15th on the grid.

Joe Neisius from Rosemount (MN) won the second BIG 8 feature, it was his first win since 2007. “We had a good car tonight and a good starting spot, and I was able to work my way up there,” said Neisius. Joe misses some race nights at Elko Speedway to help Nick Murgic who races Super Late Model touring series events across the country. “When I’m home we race and have fun when we do it,” said Neisius.

Chris Marek has won four feature events so far this year and he leads the standings by 9 points over rookie Cole Anderson who has one win.

It was a first and second place finish for the father-son team from Shakopee (MN) of Derek and Jon Lemke in the Great North Legends feature event. Both Lemke drivers came up through the pack to finish up front, they started 8th and 9th on the grid of 19 drivers.

With his second win of the year Derek Lemke extended his point lead to 18 points over Shon Jacobson from Oak Grove (MN), who got into a wreck and finished 17th.

Paul Neisius from Hastings (MN) filled in for his son Cole who was not in attendance and won the Pepsi Power Stocks main event at Elko Speedway. Paul has not won at Elko Speedway in nearly ten years and then he did it on the same night as his brother Joe who won in the BIG 8 division.

Paul started 11th of the 24 cars in the feature and worked his way to the front, “just takes patience” said Neisius “I had to wait for some guys to make mistakes and capitalize on them, I’ve had a lot of track time here.”

Neisius beat Nick Oxborough from Savage (MN) to the finish line by .236 seconds to take the win. Oxborough still leads by 11 points over Grant Brown in the standings.

Bryan Adams from Norwood (MN) won his second feature of the year in the Mini Stock division at Elko Speedway. He started 10th in the 22 car main event and beat Michael Wachs Jr from Shakopee (MN) to the checkered flag. He extended his lead to 15 points over TJ Christenson in the standings.
