August 31, 2013 – Elko, MN

Three feature events were completed before the rain caused an early end to the night of NASCAR Whelen All American series racing at Elko Speedway.

Norm Grabinger from Medford (MN) won his first feature of the year in the Power Stock division. He and Todd Tacheny started on the front row and drove side by side for much of the 20 lap feature. With just a few laps remaining John Lebens and Tacheny made contact, resulting in a flat tire for Lebens and a smashed grill for Taylor Goldman who lost momentum and dropped back to 6th.

Tom Doten took advantage with the race still under a green flag condition and drove up to second place to challenge Grabinger, they were neck and neck at the finish line with Grabinger winning by .029 seconds.

With his runner up finish Doten took over the point lead by two over John Lebens and Taylor Goldman dropped to third just three points behind Doten in the battle for the Power Stock Championship. Only two race nights remain in the regular season for the Power Stock division and this is the closest three way point battle in recent history.

Benny Van Cleve from Farmington (MN) won the Great North Legends feature event and broke the 7 race win streak set by Michael Ostdiek.

Van Cleve took an early lead and never gave it up in a 20 lap, caution free race to win in the Great North Legends division. “Those guys were stuck in traffic, I got out front and away we went,” said Van Cleve who won his first feature event of the year.

Dirk Henry drove up from his 12th starting position to finish second and Michael Ostdiek moved up from 10th place to finish in third. Ostdiek is still the leader by a commanding 65 points over Derek Lemke in the season standings.

Jared Duda from St Michael (MN) won the Bandoleros main event, he is now 31 points ahead of Cole Klein in the standings.

Chris Marek from Lakeville (MN) is still the leader in the Big 8 division, he has a 24 point lead over Dylan Moore.

Brent Kane from Lonsdale (MN) leads the Thunder Car point standings by 48 over Ted Reuvers.

Adam Royle from Lonsdale (MN) leads the Super Late Model points by 20 over Donny Reuvers in the standings.
