The Eve of Destruction™ presented by Minnesota Lottery is always a spectacle at Elko Speedway. The fiery and fast paced destruction of cars and busses will bring the whole family jumping to their feet. The event on August 27 was no exception to this as fans witnessed a fire breathing car eating dinosaur, head on collisions, and tipping busses on a beautiful Saturday night at Elko Speedway. The destruction was as exciting as the racing from the Minnesota Corn Growers Super Late Models, Genz-Ryan Thunder Cars, Pepsi Power Stocks, Legends, and Hornets put fans on the edge of their seat with side by side racing from start to finish.
Have you ever wondered what one school bus goes through during its service at Elko Speedway? A bus that services Elko Speedway will likely flip over at least five times in one season. It will likely be rammed hundreds of times and quite possibly balanced on its end. On average about 10 buses will be destroyed in one season. Needless to say, these bus drivers are not your average every day bus drivers. As they race through the “X” only time will tell which driver will collide and destroy another bus.
Not all buses are destroyed or driven dangerously every time they are on the speedway. This past weekend, September 3, children in attendance had the chance to ride on these one of a kind buses which were painted by them on August 13. This ride provided kids a new perspective by riding around the speedway with race car driver at the helm, each a driver who competes at Elko Speedway each week.
With two Eve of Destruction™ Presented by Minnesota Lottery events remaining the action is guaranteed to intensify with high flying stunts from Romans Freestyle Motocross, Monster Trucks, WildMan Clay Gallagher, and so much more. The action will spill over onto concourse with performances from DL Weatherhead Timberworks Lumberjacks, Rich Wieber Bicycle Stunt Show, Leo’s South ATV Rides, and so much more. The next event planned for Elko Speedway is an Eve of Destruction™ Presented by Minnesota Lottery on September 10. This event features the DL Weatherhead Timberworks Lumberjacks and highflying stunts from the Tailgator Monster Truck, Romans Freestyle Motocross with first ever Fire Jump at ELKO! Speedway, Vertical Mischief Motorcycle stunts, Rich Wieber Bicycle Stunt Show, and more exhilarating action packed family fun.
